REFORM FIGHTS ANTI-QUEBEC IMAGE

Thomas Crncich & Partners of London, Ont. says the media and politicians put the wrong spin on a now famous Reform Party of Canada TV ad. The media said the ad showed that the Reform Party wants to get rid of all Quebec politicians, agency president Bryan Thomas told Adnews this week. According to Thomas, the purpose of the ad was to say that the Reform Party believes all Canadians should have a say in what happens to Quebec, not just Quebekers. The ad stated, "Last time, these men (referring to Prime Minister Jean Cretien) almost lost our country and will do it again with distinct society when these men hold their next referendum (referring to Quebec political leaders). Preston Manning and the Reform Party believe there's a better way to keep our country together. Equality of all provinces." This is a lot different than what was said in the national news media, Thomas says. "Other leaders spun this into an anti-Quebec message for their own political gain." The ad ran for three days across Canada.
