KRUGER FINALIZES DEAL WITH SCOTT
By Adnews Staff
Kruger Inc. of Montreal has inked its deal to buy Scott Paper Ltd. of Mississauga, Ont. The agreement received court approval late last week. Kimberley-Clark of Dallas had owned 51% of the company, but had to put its stake up for sale last April so it wouldn't have to divest itself of its own brands in Canada. Kruger is a privately-held company with operations in newsprint, groundwood specialties, coated paper, paperboard and packaging, lumber and wood products. Scott markets brands such as Cottenelle, Purex and White Swan bathroom tissue, ScotTowels, Scotties facial tissue and Cottonelle pre-moistened hygienic wipes. The company also markets tissue, soap and dispensing systems for industrial and commercial business use. Advertising for Scott is done by Bozell Worldwide and J. Walter Thompson, both of Toronto.
