MDC DIVISION STRIKES $8-MILLION DEAL WITH FOUR AIRLINES

MDC Corporation says it had the right service and sold it properly, and that's why its securities printing division, walked away with $8 million in separate contracts from four international airlines this week. Mercury Graphics Corporation in Saskatoon a subsidiary of Toronto-based MDC, will supply the carriers with magnetic and conventional tickets and boarding pass documents. The addition of the four new airlines brings Mercury's list of air carrier clients to 13. Besides bringing in the latest in magnetics technology for encodable documents for the transportation industry, Mercury also beefed up its sales and marketing efforts, says the printing division's president Paul Mariash, in a release. "At Mercury Graphics, we have added new sales and marketing personnel in the last three months to augment our current corporate development resources for international markets." Mercury was acquired February by MDC division, is a communications organization that concentrates on three divisions: security and specialty printing, direct marketing and home shopping and communications and marketing services.
