AGFA TAKES SOFTWARE OUT OF SCANNERS

Germany-based Agfa introduced a new scanner to the North American market earlier this month. Called the Arcus II Solo, the scanner does not include Adobe Photoshop. The Arcus II Solo is cheaper than the Arcus II, which comes fully loaded with software. Agfa is marketing the Solo version because it believes many potential customers already have the software for the machine. The Arcus is a 12-bit color scanner which automatically adjusts the engine speed based on the scan resolution. In addition, Agfa introduced the DuoScan Solo scanner to the Canadian market earlier this month. It also ships without Adobe Photoshop to save customers money. Advertising for Agfa in Canada is done in-house.
