LIPTON USES ROCKY IN ICED TEA CAMPAIGN
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Thomas J. Lipton is using the popularity of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky movies to promote its Lipton Brisk iced tea. The company launched a TV spot in North America this week featuring a latex miniature Rocky Balboa in the fight of his life. Just as he looks as if he is going to lose the battle, his manager offers him a Lipton Brisk. The though of the iced tea spurs Rocky on. The reinvigorated boxer then wins the fight. The tagline for the ad is "Yo...that's, Brisk, Baby." The commercial is supported by point-of-purchase materials. The campaign was created by J. Walter Thompson of New York. The agency's Toronto office handled the Canadian media buy. In Canada, the spot will air on MuchMusic, The Sports Network and YTV. In June, the commercial will roll out nationally.
