Alexion conducts ColourUp4Rare promotion

Pharmaceutical company Alexion Pharma Canada has begun a promotion called “ColourUp4Rare” timed to coincide with Rare Disease Day on Feb. 29. The effort is intended to raise awareness of ways to improve the quality of life for people with rare diseases. Until March 3, consumers who visit <http://www.colourup4rare.com> can colour the stripes of an image of a zebra, a symbol frequently used by rare disease organizations. This is the Canadian element of an international campaign being conducted by Alexion. Alexion is the rare disease division of AstraZeneca.

“At Alexion, we stand with patients, families and communities affected by rare diseases,” said Gaby Bourbara, vice-president and general manager of Alexion Canada. “On Rare Disease Day, we are reminded of the strides we have made in understanding and treating rare diseases but recognize there is still much to be done. In 2023, Canada announced its first national rare disease strategy. However, little has been done to alleviate the suffering of millions of patients living with rare diseases and their caregivers. ColourUp4Rare is part of our commitment to bringing hope and transformative therapies to those who face the greatest challenges and to advocate on behalf of all rare disease patients in Canada.”
