COMPAQ MAY BE IN REVIEW, REPORT SAYS

U.S.-based Compaq Computer Corp. has put its worldwide account up for review, according to a report in Advertising Age. The story quoted agency sources. Compaq's Canadian corporate and public relations manager told Adnews last week that he was unaware of an agency review, but added that if Compaq switched agencies in the U.S., the Canadian subsidiary would change as well. Ammirati & Puris/Lintas' Hamburg, Germany office and Bates-owned German shop Scholz & Friends have participated in the review, which is expected to take four to six months. Ammirati & Puris of New York handles Compaq advertising in the U.S. Its Toronto office does it in Canada. The Bates network creates ads for Compaq in Europe.
