Lush Cosmetics begins pollinator promotion

Lush Cosmetics of Vancouver has begun a promotion timed to coincide with Pollinator Week. Called “Pollinators Make it Possible,” the initiative is intended to raise awareness of the role played by pollinator species in the ecosystem and food supply. It is being conducted in collaboration with Pollinator Partnership. From June 20 to 26, Lush will halt sales at one of its stores and replace the products on the shelves with samples of the ingredients used to make those products, all of which require the presence of pollinator species to reproduce.

As part of the campaign, Lush will sell a limited-edition Rose Butterfly Bath Bomb to raise funds for Pollinator Partnership and other organizations doing similar work. The company will also distribute appriximately 140,000 pieces of seeded paper cards which consumers can plant to increase their local pollinator habitats. Lush will also host seed bomb making events at 265 stores in North America on June 25.

“We're launching our campaign during the 2022 Pollinator Week to uplift and support the important work of Pollinator Partnership at a time when awareness about the impacts of the climate emergency on pollinator populations could not be more critical,” said Carleen Pickard of Lush Cosmetics. “Between 75% and 95% of all flowering plants need pollination, giving us fruits, vegetables and nuts, and these tiny champions need protection.”
