MOLSON INDY GETS SMOKED OUT

When the federal government's tobacco legislation is fully-phased-in at the end of 1998, the Molson Indy races in Toronto and Vancouver will be phased-out, Molstar Sport and Entertainment president Brent Scrimshaw says in a release. Molstar Sports promotes the races. Scrimshaw says that because the legislation, Bill C-71, will ban tobacco sponsorship on race cars, drivers and equipment, the race will be unable to come to Canada after Oct. 1, 1998. Scrimshaw and other Molson executives plan to make a final appeal opposing Bill C-71's sponsorship restrictions to the Canadian Senate later this month. Molstar Sports is a division of Montreal-based Molson Breweries.
