OLG begins Collecting for the Community promotion

The Toronto-based Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has begun a promotion called “Collecting for the Community” in support of the United Way. During the promotion, visitors to the website <http://www.collectingforthecommunity.ca> can play an online game to increase the share of funding that the crown corporation will donate to a local United Way branch. OLG will donate a total of $50,000 to the charitable organization. Each of the 27 United Way locations in Ontario will receive a minimum of $1,000. Players of the game will determine the distribution of the remaining funds. Participants will also be entered into a weekly draw for an OLG prize package valued at $250.

“We’ve had to evolve our local partnerships in order to continue to support and add value to the festivals and events taking place in communities across Ontario,” said Jennifer Barban, director of community programs at OLG. “Introducing ‘Collecting for the Community’ is a fun way to engage adult Ontarians by playing a free game that will result in real dollars being allocated to their local United Way, directly benefitting their community.”
