Rogers readies radio rebranding

Rogers Sports & Media of Toronto is preparing a rebranding initiative for its local news radio stations.  Beginning in the fall, the company will rename its stations nationally CityNews. The affected stations include 680 News of Toronto, News 1130 of Vancouver, 660 News of Calgary, News 95.7 of Halifax and 570 News of Kitchener. The stations specialize in news, traffic and weather information. Rogers rebraded its Ottawa station 1310 News at CityNews Ottawa & The Valley last year. The rebranding will include a new unified CityNews website and mobile application.

“Putting our incredible team and all of our resources behind one brand will help to strongly convey who we are to audiences and advertisers, plus it gives us the opportunity to produce more content for social and digital to better serve each community,” said Julie Adam, president of news and entertainment at Rogers Sports & Media. “News plays a pivotal role in our organization, providing an essential service for Canadians and we’re excited to make this move to cement our investment in local news.”
