Wines of Germany readies Riseling promotion

Wines of Germany will begin an international promotion on March 13 called “Riesling Birthday” to support Riseling wines from that country. According to the organization, the day was selected to mark the first documented evidence of the grape in the Rheingau region of Germany on March 13, 1435. The promotion encourages consumers to submit images, recommendations and personal stories about the wine via social media.
In Canada, the promotion will include various Instagram personalities unwrapping a specially-designed birthday present. In addition, consumers to subscribe to the Wines of Germany Instagram page in March will be entered into a draw for a branded bicycle.
“There has never been a better time to celebrate German Riesling,” said Steffen Schindler, head of marketing at the Deutsches Weininstitut. “This is a historic day to celebrate the birth of the world's most versatile grape.”
