Metroland buys parcel delivery service

Toronto-based Metroland Parcel Services, a subsidiary of Torstar has acquired the parcel delivery business of ShipperBee. The firm specializes in distribution and logistics in central and southern Ontario. According to Metroland, the acquisition will increase its final-mile parcel delivery operations in Ontario. ShipperBee retains its intellectual property, parcel transfer mailbox network and the staff developing its shipping software.

“Our purchase of ShipperBee's parcel business significantly expands our footprint in the GTA and surrounding communities,” said Paul Rivett, chair of Torstar. “Additional scale will help us to improve our industry-leading service level commitments and support retailers’ needs to move their products efficiently and professionally to the households we already serve using our existing infrastructure.”
