SURVEY SAYS CANADIAN BUSINESS TRAVEL TO RISE

Canadian business travellers will spend more time on the road and more money in 1997 according to an American Express survey. The survey predicts business travel expenses will rise by 2.8% in 1997. Sectors that will see above-average increases include airline, hotel, car rental, meals and entertainment. American Express says the increase is due to a combination of solid corporate profits and low interest rates giving Canadian businesses enough confidence to try to expand their operations. This increased interest in expansion will result in an increase in business travel, the survey says.
