HP PROMOTES MOPIER THROUGH PING PONG

Hewlett-Packard is using an interactive ping pong Internet ad to promote its new HP LaserJet 5Si mopier. HP is touting the mopier as a replacement for office photocopiers. The mopier comes with software that allows print tasks to be sent to printers around the world and automatic collating and stapling features. The mopier Web ads draw the attention of viewers through the sound of a ping pong game. If viewers then click on the banner, they will arrive at an interactive game that allows them to play ping pong with their mouse. The ad was created by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco in conjunction with U.S.-based Red Sky Interactive. Goodby is the agency for U.S.-based Hewlett-Packard Ltd. A TV and print campaign running for the mopier in the U.S. was also created by Goodby. The campaign will arrive in Canada later this spring using ads that will be adapted from the Goodby material by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising of Toronto, Doug Garnett, Toronto-based Hewlett Packard (Canada) Ltd.'s marketing communications manager, said.
