By Adnews Staff
Mississauga, Ont.-based Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. has announced it intends to offer a communications service using a low-Earth orbit satellite system by late 1998. The service would include commercial voice, data and fax functions. An application for the service has been submitted to Industry Canada. Low-Earth satellites are supposed to reduce time lags in voice transmissions in comparison to standard orbit satellites. Cancom's president Alain Gourd said the company's first targeted market will be the trucking industry. Advertising for Cancom is handled in-house.
