REIMER TO TRAVEL A NEW ROAD
By Adnews Staff
Ohio-based Roadway Express, Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire Reimer Express Lines, Ltd. of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Both Reimer and Roadway are less-than-truckload motor carriers. This means they transport goods through a series of terminals, rather than moving loads from their start point to their final destinations. Roadway's Canadian subsidiary will be shut down and all Roadway business in Canada will now flow through Reimer's operations. Reimer will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary under its own name, with its currrent management team intact. The $15 million(Can.) deal is expected to be completed by the end of April. Roadway had previously run in-house print ads in Canadian trade publications. All of its future Canadian marketing will be handled through Reimer. Spokesperson Gerald Reimer said he expected Reimer's advertising would remain stable, or increase slightly. The company currently runs print ads, created by WPD&D Advertising of Winnipeg, in Canadian trade publications.
