INDONESIA TV GOES DIGITAL
By Adnews Staff
Indonesia has done what Canada is still trying to do. Indovision of Jakarta, launched Asia's first tiered digital direct-to-home satellite TV service this week. The package offers 19 mainly international channels including three regional movie channels, as well as the world's first Bahasa-language film channel, Film Indonesia. Other regional and international programming includes Star Sports, ESPN, CNN International, NBC Asia's business channel, CNBC and general entertainment channel NBC. Indovision's digital launch raises hopes in the country for the pay-TV market. The company's five-channel analog package has been on the market for three years and has 30,000 subscribers.
