THOMSON SELLS OFF MEDICAL-RELATED ASSETS

Toronto-based Maclean Hunter Publishing has bought six medical-related publications from Thomson Healthcare Communications, as well as a custom communications service. The magazines are: Family Practice, Patient Care, L'Omnipracticien, Pharmacy Practice, Hospital Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Post. Maclean Hunter already owns the Medical Post along with other health-related publications. The sale is part of Toronto-based Thomson Corp.'s restructuring to focus more on electronic communications. Thomson's main remaining assets in Canada are several daily and weekly publications, educational publisher Nelson Canada and legal publisher Carswell.
