CMA releases updated privacy guide

The Canadian Marketing Association has released an updated Guide to Privacy Compliance, which provides information for organizations seeking to protect the privacy of consumers. The guide covers the implementation of Canada’s federal privacy law, guidelines issued by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and seven privacy requirements from the association’s own Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice.

“Protecting consumers’ personal information is part of the customer experience,” said Sara Clodman, vice-president of public affairs and thought leadership at the CMA. “Responsible data practices earn you customer loyalty and trust, a key ingredient for business success. The CMA has long advocated a high degree of responsibility and transparency in the gathering and handling of consumers’ personal information.”
