Leon's promotes new concept store

Home furnishings retailer Leon’s Furniture will open a new concept store in Coquitlam, BC on Aug. 8. The 15,000-square-foot store will offer a limited selection of furniture, appliances and electronics, accompanied by touchscreen kiosks, point-of-sale tablets and an 11-foot video display with which consumers can purchase the chain’s full range of products. The store will also feature an augmented reality system.

“We want to combine the convenience of online shopping with the trusted assistance and customer service that Leon’s is known for,” said Mike Walsh, divisional president at Leon’s. “The installations and technology that we have in the new Coquitlam store are really an amalgamation of the best of both these worlds.”

The new store is being promoted with media relations and influencer activities conducted by OverCat Communications. In addition, OMD is handling media buying for an ad campaign that will include newspaper, television, radio and digital advertising, as well as direct mail.
