According to the company, the site is intended to create a "more engaging experiences" for film consumers by providing a venue for gathering and sharing information about movies. MovieCoin specializes in the application of blockchain technology and cryptographic tokens to the film industry. The site will allow users to purchase movie tickets, cinema gift cards and on-demand video using the company's tokens. Through agreements with theatre chains, the site will also offer discounts on movie ticket purchases. It will also offer contests, access to special events and a film memorabilia auction. Users will also be able to access a database of films and user reviews, as well as customized recommendations and playlists.

"The power of cinema to transform and connect people eclipses all other art forms," said Christopher Woodrow, CEO of MovieCoin. "Through our Movie.io portal, we are connecting those who share a love of movies with like-minded movie-watchers and the professionals behind the films they love. Our new platform will revolutionize the ways in which film fans experience and engage with their favorite movies. It's a major win for the industry overall and will no doubt create the ultimate interactive experience."
