New editor at Toronto Star

The Toronto Star has promoted Irene Gentle to the position of editor, succeeding outgoing editor Michael Cooke, who has retired. Gentle was previously managing editor of the newspaper. She joined the Star in 2011 as business editor, later becoming assistant managing editor and city editor. Gentle has also worked as a senior editor at Torstar properties including the Toronto Star, The Hamilton Spectator, the Flamborough Post, the Flamborough Review, Niagara This Week, West of the City and Niagara Life.
