LEARNING ABOUT LIQUOR
By Adnews Staff
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario is offering a course for customers who want to learn more about alcohol. Encompassing three levels, the course is available by correspondence. Presently, only the first two levels are available at LCBO stores across the province. The third level will be out shortly. Known as the Product Knowledge Correspondence Course, the program is a modified version of the LCBO's employee product knowledge training course. The initial level is an introduction to alcoholic drinks, detailing how and where certain products are made, what they taste like and why. It also gives students advice on how to properly taste alcohol so it can be appreciated more fully. The second and third levels provide more detailed information on alcoholic products and how to match various drinks with food. To complete each level, participants must pass an exam that is mailed out to them and then returned for marking. Certificates are handed out for each level passed. The course is being promoted by in-store materials and media relations handled in-house.
