By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Dr Pepper/ 7Up will try to pump up its sales in the U.S. by unveiling a new bottle in select markets in the new year. Called the Splash bottle, the new format will appear on green 20-oz bottles of 7UP and Canada Dry and clear bottles of A&W, Sunkist, WelchÕs and Squirt. The new design features protruding bubbles above and below the bottlesÕ label. The company says that a national preference survey revealed consumers like the easy-to-grip, contoured shape and visual appeal of the new bottle. During the survey, approximately six out of 10 respondents chose 7UpÕs Splash bottle over SpriteÕs bottle. Surveys conducted without the new bottle had consumers choosing Sprite over 7UP by the same margin. The Splash bottle will be promoted by a heavy ad campaign using TV, print and radio. Canadian company officials were unavailable to comment on whether the new bottle would come to Canada
