BELL TESTING PREPAID CELLULAR PHONES
By Adnews Staff
Bell Mobility of Toronto began test marketing a prepaid cellular phone service in Toronto and Hamilton this week. The new option allows customers to avoid the hassle of credit checks, deposits and monthly payments. All they have to do is purchase a phone and prepaid air time cards. They then call Bell Mobility to activate their phone, like a regular cellular customer would. Each air time card contains 60 units. When the phone is in use, units are automatically deducted from the card. Long distance calls and calls originating from outside Bell MobilityÕs coverage area use up more units than local calls. To check their unit balances, customers can press a few keys and look at their phoneÕs display. The new service is available at participating Bell Mobility dealers. While Bell Mobility is conducting no advertising for the service, local dealers will be placing their own ads. Cossette Communication-Marketing handles BellÕs advertising. Bell Mobility offers a variety of wireless telecommunications services including cellular, paging, data, satellite and airline passenger communications
