TransferWise conducts street promotion in Toronto
By Adnews Staff
Online money transfer service TransferWise conducted a street promotion in Toronto today intended to encourage consumers to "wake up" to the issue of bank fees. The initiative involved 70 promotional workers dressed in pajamas, ostensibly sleep walking through the morning rush hour in Royal Bank Plaza. The participants were then awakened by an oversized alarm clock, after which they engaged in a pillow fight.
"Competition exists in the industry to provide people with options," said Joe Cross, general manager for North America at TransferWise. "A competitive landscape is not an excuse to encourage negligence internally. It's irresponsible and shows a depressing lack of respect for the people of Canada. This news hopefully serves as a wake-up call for people about how they are being taken advantage of. But it's also one for the industry. It's time to put people first."
