AT&T CONSOLIDATES ACCOUNT
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based AT&T Canada Inc. has consolidated the advertising for its long distance services with Young & Rubicam, Ltd. of Toronto. MacLaren McCann of Toronto had won most of the approximately $25 million account for AT&T Canada Long Distance Services Co. of Halifax in a review last year. The agency had been responsible for creative, while Y&R had handled direct marketing and media buying. MacLaren president Tony Miller could not be reached for comment. However, an article in The Globe and Mail quoted Miller as saying that the agency had more than compensated for the AT&T loss with smaller accounts. Both MacLaren's and Y&R's U.S.-based parent companies work with AT&T Corp. in the U.S. AT&T Canada was formerly known as Unitel Communications.
