BAGEL CHAIN TO HELP FIGHT DIABETES
By Adnews Staff
The Great Canadian Bagel chain is teaming up with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation to raise funds for the fight against diabetes. On Dec. 4, one dollar from every dozen bagels sold at the chain's stores across Canada will go to the foundation. The partners' goal is to raise more than $30,000. The event also marks the opening of the 100th The Great Canadian Bagel store nationwide. Radio spots featuring chain spokesperson Darryl Sittler began running across the country last week and will continue until Dec. 4. In-store banners are also being used to make customers aware of the fundraiser. FC&D Advertising Inc. of Toronto created the ads. Both the agency and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation are supporting the initiative with PR. The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation is a registered Canadian charity and an affiliate of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International. Its goal is to fund the best research available into the cause, cure and prevention of diabetes. The organization has 13 chapters across Canada.
