Tim Hortons resumes hockey card promotion

Tim Hortons has resumed a promotion called "Tim Hortons Collector's Series NHL Trading Cards." The 100 collectable hockey cards will be sold in packages of three at Tim Hortons locations nationally. Each card incorporates an identification number which can be submitted online at <http://www.collecttowin.ca> to unlock a digital trading card. Consumers who trade cards online will be entered into a draw for one on five trips to the 2017 NHL All-Star Game, as well as one of 100 EA Sports PlayStation prize packages or other prizes.

This year, the promotion includes a mobile application via which consumers can view an augmented reality component incorporated into the cards. The viewer displays models of NHL players, as well as hidden animations when certain pairs of cards are viewed simultaneously. The application is available for Apple and Android devices. The cards were developed in association with the National Hockey league, the NHL Players Association and trading card company Upper Deck.

"Tim Hortons has a long standing history of supporting hockey in Canada and we're thrilled to continue this tradition through the return of our NHL trading cards," said Sami Siddiqui, president of Tim Hortons Canada. "We're excited to offer a new and engaging experience this year with this app, bringing the players of Canada's favourite game to life."
