V&B OPENS MEDIA BUYING ARM

Vickers & Benson Companies Ltd. of Toronto has opened a media buying arm called MAXXMEDIA INC. The division is headed by president David Chung, who was most recently senior vice-president and national media director at Lowe/SMS of Toronto. V&B has sold its 50% stake in Genesis Media of Toronto to Genesis president and CEO Bruce Claassen and Peter Simpson because it wants to increase the agency's ability to offer integrated marketing to its clients. The deal takes effect Dec. 1. At one time, Genesis got most of its business from the federal government and V&B. Now its client list has grown and includes work from other agencies. MAXXMEDIA is the fourth operating company under the VBCL umbrella. The others are Vickers & Benson Advertising, One to One Communications and Warwick & Associates.
