TRADE SHOW COMPANY USES FIRST AGENCY

Multimedia Trade Shows Inc. of Concord, Ont. is using a PR agency for the first time to promote its MULTIMEDIA 97 trade show running in Toronto from May 6 to 9. The company hired The Cohen Group of Toronto late last month without a review based on work the agency did for other clients. Multimedia decided to hire an agency now because "it's time to expand and have a more cohesive outlook on what we're doing," show director Jai Cole told Adnews yesterday. PR was being done in-house. The Cohen Group will also develop and execute the show's registration catalogue, show guide and targeted editorial supplements. Advertising is done in-house. Multimedia 97 is in its sixth year. The show attracts over 23,000 attendees annually and will include more than 80 seminars and 400 exhibits. The show focuses on innovative communications technologies including: virtual reality, visual communications, electronic design, video/film production, photography and multimedia and Internet communications.
