Health care PR association joins Canadian Public Relations Society

The Health Care Public Relations Association will merge its operations into those of the Canadian Public Relations Society on Nov. 2. Members of the HCPRA will become members of the CPRS. They will also be encouraged to join one of the 14 local branches of the society. The Canadian Public Relations Society will also create an entity called the Health Care Academy that will support PR practitioners working in the health care sector. In addition, HCPRA president Judy Brown will join the society's national board for a seven month term.

"We are pleased to welcome nearly 200 members of HCPRA into CPRS," said Renee McCloskey, national president of the Canadian Public Relations Society. "The addition of these members with a specialty in healthcare communications provides CPRS the unique opportunity to examine our professional development program and how we can offer programs and learning opportunities specific to the healthcare sector. We believe this integration further strengthens CPRS' position as the association of choice for professional public relations practitioners in Canada."
