Ikea conducts catalogue promotion
Home furnishings retailer Ikea Canada has begun a social media promotion called "Grab Life by the Catalogue." The promotion supports the release of the chain's 2016 catalogue. It makes use of "social media vending machines" that will be installed at all Ikea stores nationally during the last two weekends in August. When a consumer uses the machine, it displays an identification number. When the consumer then sends that number as a message to Ikea's Twitter account, the consumer will receive one of a range of possible prizes.
"We know that Canadians like to engage and connect through social media," said Stefan Sjostrand, president of Ikea Canada. "Throughout August we hope to excite our customers about the new 2016 Ikea catalogue and inspire them to turn their dream home decor projects into reality."
