CAA debuts awareness website

The Canadian Automobile Association of South Central Ontario has launched a new website at <http://www.headsupontario.ca> as part of an awareness campaign called "Heads Up." The campaign is intended to raise awareness among drivers about recent changes to the Making Ontario's Roads Safer Act that will go into effect in the fall. The changes include higher fines and demerit points for distracted driving, as well as requirements to move over for tow Trucks and keep a distance of one metre when passing bicyclists.

"Ontario is a world leader in road safety and the new measures targeting distracted driving, cyclists and tow truck operator safety will help keep everyone on the road safe," said Steven Del Duca, Ontario Minister of Transportation. "Public education is key to tackling persistent, unsafe driver behaviour and I look forward to continuing to raise awareness with the CAA, police and our other valuable road safety partners."
