CAA begins Towing Bill of Rights promotion

The Canadian Automobile Association of South Central Ontario has begun a consumer awareness campaign called the "Towing Bill of Rights." According to the organization, the initiative is based on eight points of Ontario law that consumers should remember if they need towing services.

As part of the campaign, the organization is distributing 10,000 copies of a towing guide that can be kept in a vehicle for future reference. This distribution is being conducted in collaboration with the Provincial Towing Association of Ontario. A digital version of the guide is also available for download at <http://www.towrights.ca>.

"Despite the rules that came into law in Ontario early last year, many consumers still seem to be unaware of their rights when it comes to towing," said Teresa Di Felice, associate vice-president of government and community relations at CAA SCO.  "It can often be very stressful for motorists after a collision or vehicle issue, and the 'Towing Bill of Rights' is a quick and easy reference guide to help put the power and knowledge back in the hands of consumers."
