CANOLA OIL GIANTS MERGE

CIC Canola Industries Inc. of Alberta has bought Canadian Agra Vegetable Oil & Foods Inc. of Kincardine, Ontario. CIC sales and marketing vice-president Mike Palmer told Adnews this week that the company, which will now be known as Canadian Agra Foods Inc., will have to reposition itself and may seek the services of an agency in the next few months. "Getting direction and ideas from an ad agency would be helpful," he said. CIC had used an agency in the past for its agricultural products, but the relationship ended when CIC divested itself of those products. Palmer declined to name the agency. The new company will produce Canola Oil for bulk, institutional and retail markets. Canadian Agra will be headquartered in Kincardine.
