SCHOOL BUSES TO ACCEPT ADVERTISING
By Adnews Staff
School boards in Ontario and Alberta are getting into the advertising business. In Ontario, the York Region Board of Education and the York Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board will allow advertising on the inside and outside of school buses. The ad representative for these two boards is the M2000 Group of Richmond Hill, Ont. The Wellington County School Board in Guelph, Ont. has been testing the idea on a few school buses in the city, but will allow it on all of its buses in January. Other Ontario school boards getting in on the action in January are Peel, Halton, Waterloo and London. Calgary was supposed to allow advertising on its school buses in August, but the launch was delayed because of technical problems. Awareness in Motion AIM Advertising of Markham, Ont. was to run the school bus advertising program, but the Calgary board hasn't been able to contact the agency in the past week. Adnews could not reach AIM for comment. If the contract falls through, the board will look for another agency to run the program.
