Penguin Random House Canada launches hotline
Book publisher Penguin Random House Canada has launched a new service called the Penguin Hotline in Canada. The service, which launched in the US last year, offers book recommendations to consumers shopping for a gift, based on a description of the intended recipient. It is intended to be used primarily around holidays and other gift-giving occasions. The Canadian launch is timed to coincide with the approach of Mother's Day.
Visitors to the PenguinHotline.com website can submit a list of the interests of the person for who they are gift shopping. They will then receive by email a list of books recommended by a live employee of the company. According to Penguin Random House, the service is not limited to its own titles, but will include recommendations for books from any publisher.
The launch of the Penguin Hotline is being promoted with a national digital and print advertising campaign.
