Energizer begins Join Our Journey promotion

Battery brand Energizer Canada has begun a campaign called "Join Our Journey." Aimed primarily at parents and their children, the initiative is intended to foster childhood interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math and to promote the company's EcoAdvanced line of batteries.

The national promotion invites the parents of children between the ages of five and 12 to submit a drawing of their child's design for a creature at <http://www.joinenergizer.ca>. A panel of judges will select five finalists, who will each create a video explaining why their creature should be created. The videos will be posted to the brand's Facebook page, where public voting will partially determine the winner. The winning design will be constructed as a battery-powered toy. The winning child will also receive a $10,000 contribution to an RESP. Entries will be accepted until May 4.

"We work with award-winning scientists and have a long history of being innovative," said Michelle Hodd, senior brand manager at Energizer Canada. "We want to inspire Canadian children to push the boundaries too, actively exploring the opportunities that the fields of STEM offer."
