BLACK'S INTRODUCES NEW SERVICE

Black's Photo Corp. of Markham, Ont. began offering photographic restoration and alteration services in its 190 outlets this week. To restore a photo, it is scanned into a computer. It is then cleaned up using image manipulation software that eliminates lines, marks, cracks, spots, tears and creases. The photo's contrast and brightness can also be improved. The alteration process can eliminate distracting backgrounds, change colors or combine two or more pictures into one. In addition, it gets rid of photographic errors such as red eye, shadows and poor composition. In-store advertising and demos to promote the service began this week. Print will begin in November. Advertising for Black's is done in-house.
