Study: Internet ad spending in Canada
According to a new report from IAB Canada, in 2013 digital advertising represented the largest share of Canadian advertising spending for the first time. Spending on online advertising in Canada increased by 14% in 2013 to $3.5 billion. This includes a 177% increase in mobile ad spending. According to the study, mobile ads represented 13% of total Canadian Internet revenues in 2013, up from five percent the previous year. French Canadian Internet revenue totaled $670 million in 2013, representing 19% of total Canadian Internet ad revenues.
"IAB Canada's Annual Internet Advertising Revenue Report reinforces the fundamental position that digital media has earned over the last 20 years in the advertiser's toolbox," said Chris Williams, president of IAB Canada. "Given that Canadians rank among the most active Internet users in the world it comes as no surprise that the largest share of spend is on digital platforms. We forecast continued double digit growth for 2014 with particular excitement for mobile and video formats."
