IAB Canada launches marketing privacy initiative

The Toronto-based Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada has appointed Adam Kardash to the position of special counsel. Kardash is the head of the national privacy and information management practice group at law firm Heenan Blaikie, as well as managing director of its AccessPrivacy group. Kardash and a staff from Heenan Blaikie will lead the bureau's communications efforts concerning privacy and marketing. This will include the development of written submissions and consultations on proposed legislative reform, policy initiatives and regulatory guidelines. "Our members are facing an increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment, especially digital privacy law within online advertising," said Chris Williams, president of IAB Canada. "The technology is complex, detailed and moving very fast. It takes the combination of experts in law, policy, ad operations  and the widest group of digital stakeholders to ensure the industry is moving forward responsibly with a  balance of commerce and consumer protection."
