EBay launches internal ad sales unit

Three Canadian electronic commerce websites have launched a joint initiative to handle advertising sales on their sites. Auction site EBay Canada, classified ads site Kijiji and ticket selling site StubHub will now sell display advertising through a single internal sales unit. Although Kijiji and StubHub are both subsidiaries of EBay, each of these sites previously handled ad sales independently. Collectively, the three sites attract approximately 13 million unique Canadian visitors per month. The new sales unit is intended to be more convenient for advertisers, and to provide better access to programmatic targeting.

"Together, EBay, Kijiji and Stubhub are undisputedly the most powerful way to reach the largest audience of motivated shoppers in Canada," said Mark Lister, managing director of advertising and seed businesses at Kijiji. "Our growing audience, motivated shoppers who are ready to buy, are actively engaged, presenting opportunities to businesses of all types and sizes to reach them at the right place and time. With EBay and StubHub, together we can now help advertisers reach more Canadian online shoppers than ever."
