Subway hires Proof Advertising, Grey Canada

Subway Restaurants has retained Proof Advertising of Austin, TX and Grey Canada of Toronto to provide strategic and creative advertising services for its 944 locations in southwestern Ontario, Toronto and Barrie, ON. The two firms pitched for the business together in a review that took place last month. To service this account, the two agencies have formed a joint venture called Proof & Grey, which will operate in Austin and Toronto. Proof Advertising already handles advertising for approximately 7,000 Subway locations in 50 US markets. This is the first time Grey Canada has held a Subway account. The first work of the collaboration is scheduled to be released later this summer.

"We were looking for a very entrepreneurial approach to generating profitable same-store sales for our business," said Dan Burns, a development agent for Subway in Ontario. "Proof has a track record of doing exactly that across the 50 markets they manage in the US. Their understanding of Subway coupled with Grey's track record in Canada is a very strong solution for our franchisees."
