WRIGHT IN TUNE WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS
By Adnews Staff
Canadian country singer Michelle Wright is the celebrity spokesperson for the 1997 Special Olympics World Winter Games being held in Collingwood, Ont, and Toronto from Feb. 1 to 8, 1997. Games chairman John Scott said Wright was chosen because of her educational background and her past involvement with Special Olympics athletes. Before becoming a singer, Wright had been pursuing a career in assisting individuals with mental disabilities. Print, billboard, radio and television ads promoting the event have been running since the spring. The ads are concentrated in the Toronto market, but have also been made available to Special Olympics branches across the country. SMW Advertising Ltd. of Toronto handled the advertising. All ad space for the Special Olympics was donated. SMW is also working on a follow-up campaign which will run in late December and January.
