PayPal promotes free burger offer

Online payment company PayPal Canada is conducting a marketing campaign in Toronto tied to a promotion by weekly publication The Grid called "Burger Week." Until May 31, consumers will receive a free burger when they use the PayPal mobile application to pay for their order at eight participating restaurants listed at <http://www.thegridto.com/paypal>. Consumers can also get a discount on admission, food or drink tickets at the Burger Day event that will take place at Fort York on June 1 by using the application.

The marketing campaign consists of banner ads on TheGridTO.com, a dedicated subsection of the website and prints ads in The Grid. Promotional workers will be present at participating restaurants to assist consumers with installing the application on their devices. Social media support includes an online video and posts on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, as well as PayPal's blog.

"PayPal is always looking to power payments for things people love, like their favourite food and drinks," said Kerry Reynolds, head of consumer marketing at PayPal Canada. "After free coffees at Jimmy's Coffee on Giving Tuesday, PayPal is now offering up free burgers to Torontonians who pay with their phone and the PayPal app at eight popular food spots during Burger Week."
