NEW INFOMERCIAL TRACKING SYSTEM

Toronto-based infomercial house Channel 500 Inc. yesterday announced its new tracking system called OASIS (On-line Access Sales Information System). It is being tauted as the first computer system in Canada that can provide instant access to current and historical campaign performance data for companies attempting to sell their wares with infomercials. The system tracks all sales and inquires made via an infomercial by time, market, product or TV station, allowing users to see exactly how well their show is going over with the viewers. "These reports would normally take weeks to prepare manually," says Channel 500 vice-president Rod Bell in a release. "With a click of a mouse, this information can be on the client's desktop within seconds." The system is based on direct response media buying software acquired from Media Solutions Inc. of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, which has been adapted and expanded for Canadian marketers.
