The Canadian Public Relations Society of Toronto held its annual Achieving Communications Excellence Awards yesterday. The awards recognize achievement by public relations professionals in the Greater Toronto Area.

The Best PR Campaign of the Year award went to Argyle Communications for its 30% off Ontario Tuition campaign for Free For All. This campaign was also named Community Relations Campaign of the Year.

The Best Creative PR Campaign of the Year was awarded to Strategic Objectives for its Oreo cookie 100th anniversary campaign. This campaign also won a gold award for media relations with a budget over $50,000.

McDonald's Restaurants of Canada received the Brand Development Campaign of the Year award for its "Our Food. Your Questions" program, which also won a gold award in the New Product or Service Launch category.

Cathy Cowan of Cowan & Company Communications was named PR Professional of the Year, while John Muldoon received the Lois Marsh Leadership Award.

Other gold award winners included Argyle Communications and The Canadian Pain Summit, Apex Public Relations and Nike Canada, MSL Canada and Rona, DDB Public Relations and Subaru, Environics Communications and Pfizer Consumer Healthcare, and Energizer Personal Care.
