CFL PLAYERS FEATURED ON VIRTUAL SPORTS CARDS
By Adnews Staff
The fastest, toughest members of the Canadian Football League Players' Association will begin gracing a new kind of sports card over the next few months: "virtual" cards. Designed by Calgary-based eMedia Communications, each card is a miniature multimedia presentation made to look like a traditional paper card. On the front of each digital card is a player photograph. A click of the mouse flips the card over to reveal biographical data and statistics. Each card also includes a sound clip from the player and a space for a sponsor's logo. The first card in the series, released yesterday, features punter Tony Martino, of the Calgary Stampeders. New cards will be released at the rate of about ten per week as the football season heads toward to Grey Cup. The cards will be available for downloading from the CFL Players' Association Web site, <http://www.cflpa.com> or from the eMedia site <http://www.emedialtd.com>. No advertising plans for the virtual cards have been decided upon, but eMedia is hunting for a media partner to help with promotion.
